Class Descriptions
Did you know...
Dance in a challenging, non-competitive atmosphere gives children and teens the opportunity to express themselves freely through music and movement.
It enhances the ability to pursue individual goals and to work together as a group.
It reinforces such skills as listening, counting, coordination, motor skills and musicality. Whether a child chooses to dance for many years or moves on to other interests, tapping that inner rhythm will provide life-long benefits.
Here is a description of our dance classes:
Fairytale Ballet - The perfect first class for our youngest dancers at age 3. This mini session class combines storytelling, and ballet basics to create an imaginative dance. Skills focus on gross motor movement, ballet and musicality. Dancers learn a choreographed routine to a song which is performed at the end of each session.
Ballet - Ballet is the basis of all dance. It will enhance all other styles of dance. Ballet provides balance, strength and fluid movement. It helps the dancer achieve excellent technique, poise, and posture. Our dancers learn the foundations of classic ballet. Classes include stretching, muscle strengthening, and reinforcing ballet positions along with basic ballet movements. Levels 1,2,3 reinforce the movements previously learned, bringing the dancer to a more advanced level.
Pre Pointe and Pointe are designed for the advanced dancer with a strong ballet background. We prefer instructor recommendations for those interested in taking these classes.
Tap - Our classes reinforce rhythm, technique, coordination, presentation and style. Class includes warm up, across the floor progressions, center work, fancy footwork and combinations. A variety of styles from broadway, contemporary, traditional and rhythm tapping are taught.
Jazz Funk - Dancers combine the traditional jazz movements with funky
hip-hop style. Our age appropriate music and movements reinforces musicality, rhythm and performance skills. This is a high-energy style of dance that is easy and fun to learn for all dancers.
Hip Hop - This a constantly changing style of dance that uses lots of isolations and high energy. You have seen the style on many of the popular dance shows. Our instructors use the latest choreography and age appropriate music.
